Welcome to My Photography World

Hi, I’m Tasha Hall — photographic artist, animal lover, and the human behind BC Farm & Family Photography.

I live on 13 acres in the interior of British Columbia, in a tiny place called Edgewood. Translation: I live in the middle of nowhere… and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I do love photography (yes, my whole life — doesn’t everyone say that?), but what really defines my work isn’t the camera. It’s the lives I photograph, the animals I adore, and the stories that unfold when everyone is allowed to just be themselves.

What Is a “Farmily,” Anyway?

Most families have beautiful portraits on their walls; the human parts of the family, at least.

But some of us know better.

Some of us know that the dogs, horses, goats, chickens, cats, and assorted barnyard characters are just as much family as anyone else. Those are the portraits I create.

A Farmily portrait brings together everyone who belongs ~ fur, feathers, hooves, and humans ~ into one meaningful image that tells the story of life on your farm, exactly as it is right now.

The portraits you see above show four years of our own Farmily, changing and growing over time. We create a new one every year… and yes, the collection is getting a little impressive.

A Few Things You Should Probably Know About Me

I had the same horse for 30 years.

Her name was Temptation (Tempie for short), a grey Arabian mare with fire in her soul and a permanent place in my heart. She lived to 32 and shaped a huge part of who I am. You’ll spot her in our Farmily portraits above.

I rescue things.

Spiders from bathtubs. Worms from sidewalks. Birds, fawns, goslings, and more domestic critters than I can count. If it breathes, it deserves compassion.

(Mosquitos and horse flies excluded. They know what they did.)

I travel… a lot.

For photography, for life, and because I live in the middle of nowhere. About 95% of my sessions involve travel, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I can’t seem to travel without helping something.

A dog. A cat. Or, in the case of our last trip to Africa… an entire orphanage. It’s just how I move through the world.

I’ve moved over 40 times.

Mostly between the Kootenays and Vancouver Island. No idea why. Life just kept flowing.

I’ve now been in my current home for 12 years, the longest I’ve ever stayed anywhere, and I’m finally growing roots.

What I Photograph

I specialize in full Farmily portraits — thoughtfully planned, story-driven images that bring your entire farm family together in one unforgettable piece of artwork.

I also love photographing pets of all kinds. Dogs, cats, horses, chickens, rats, yes, even snakes, if it has a personality, I’m in.

And yes… I will photograph your human family too...

but at least one animal must be included. 😉

Non-negotiable.

If You’re Still Here…

You’re probably someone who:

  • considers animals family
  • prefers real life over perfect poses
  • wants a portrait that feels like home

If that sounds like you, I’d love to meet you and your Farmily.

“You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
