Your Photographer & Trip Host

Tasha Hall ~ BC Farm & Family Photography – Canada

As an accredited professional wildlife photographer with a love for animals, wild places, and meaningful travel, I’ve explored the world through my lens—but nowhere has captured my heart quite like Tanzania. After two life-changing safaris and six years of working closely with local communities here, I knew it was time to bring others into this magic.

This trip is the result of long-standing friendships and trusted partnerships—with two of the best guides in Tanzania—designed to offer not just incredible photographs, but deep comfort, connection, and care for every traveler, especially those venturing out solo.

Your Local Safari Guides

Gasper Mbise

Founder of Neeko Tours & Ikirwa Primary School

Gasper is a passionate safari guide with a big heart. He runs Neeko Tours, a boutique safari company, and is also the founder of an incredible primary school that supports children in need. I’ve known Gasper for six years, and along with a group of women, sponsor 19 of his students. In January, I spent two weeks staying with him in Tanzania, and I’m continually inspired by his commitment to his community and guests alike.

Gasper brings deep knowledge of Tanzanian culture and wildlife, a calm and steady presence, and a love for sharing the real heart of his country with visitors.

Joseph Julius Sandi

Owner of African Choice Safari

Joseph is a skilled and intuitive safari guide—and also a proud Maasai, born and raised in the Serengeti. His roots in this land run generations deep. We first met him in 2019, and his ability to read the wild was instantly unforgettable. He seems to see, hear, and feel everything around him—like he’s part of the ecosystem itself.

He runs African Choice Safari as a solo operator, offering a truly personal experience. With fluency in Swahili, English, and German, Joseph blends professionalism, humor, and instinct into every adventure. He knows every track and trail by heart and never misses a moment.

Their heritage, wisdom, and heartfelt hospitality add a richness to this journey

that no ordinary safari could offer.

Together, we’ll explore not only the incredible wildlife of Tanzania, but its culture, community, and spirit—guided by those who call it home.

Your 11-Day Safari Itinerary

This journey takes you deep into Tanzania’s most iconic and soul-stirring landscapes—where each day is filled with connection, discovery, and comfort. From luxury tented camps in the Serengeti to cultural immersion in Maasai country, every detail is thoughtfully designed.

Pre-Safari Arrival – Welcome to Tanzania

📍Kibo Palace Hotel, Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your safari guide and transferred to the elegant Kibo Palace Hotel in Arusha. Unwind after your journey, enjoy a delicious dinner, and get ready for the adventure ahead.

Welcome to Tanzania.

The air is warm and sweet with promise as you arrive beneath the African sky. At Kibo Palace, the hum of the city fades behind soft linens, swaying palms, and a first taste of tropical hospitality. Tonight, you rest. Tomorrow, the wild begins.

🌿 Location & Atmosphere

Strategically located just a 10-minute walk from Arusha’s central business district and approximately 45 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport, Kibo Palace offers both convenience and tranquility. Its lush gardens, swaying palm trees, and inviting outdoor pool provide a serene setting to relax after a long flight or an exhilarating safari.

Day 1 – Into Elephant Country: Tarangire National Park

📍Tarangire Safari Lodge

After breakfast, we hit the road for Tarangire—a park famous for its majestic baobab trees and large elephant herds. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive before settling into your lodge inside the park, with sweeping views over the Tarangire River and the wildlife that visits it.

Land of Giants. ~ Baobabs rise like ancient temples across the golden plains, where elephants roam in dusty silence. Tarangire whispers its secrets as your first game drive begins—your heart races, your camera clicks, and suddenly, the dream is real.

Tarangire National Park

“The land of elephants and ancient giants.”

Tarangire is often called Tanzania’s hidden gem. You’ll know why the moment you see the towering baobab trees—some over a thousand years old—scattered like sentinels across golden savannahs. This park is home to the largest concentration of elephants in northern Tanzania, and in the dry season, you can see entire herds gathering at the riverbanks. But Tarangire is more than elephants—keep your eyes open for tree-climbing lions, shy leopards lounging on branches, and bright flashes of color from lovebirds, hornbills, and lilac-breasted rollers. The slower pace here gives you time to breathe, settle into Africa’s rhythm, and feel like you’re truly in the wild.

Day 2 – Into the Crater Highlands

📍Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

After breakfast, we continue with a final game drive in Tarangire before ascending to the rim of Ngorongoro Crater. Tonight you’ll stay at the stunning Serena Lodge perched on the crater rim—with views like no other.

From plains to peaks ~ One last look back at the Tarangire before you climb to the crater rim. Tonight, you sleep above one of the world’s most extraordinary sanctuaries, the stars stretched wide above your window.

Day 3 – The Ngorongoro Crater

📍Osero Tented Camp

Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater—home to black rhinos, flamingos, and dense wildlife in one of the most spectacular ecosystems on earth.

Into Eden ~ As mist rolls off the crater floor, you descend into a world untouched—flamingos, rhinos, hyenas, and ancient tuskers all gathered in a perfect circle of life.

Ngorongoro Crater

“An ancient caldera. A perfect microcosm of Africa.”

Ngorongoro is a place out of time. Formed by the collapse of a massive volcano millions of years ago, it’s now a lush, green bowl teeming with life. With steep crater walls rising around you, the descent into the crater feels like stepping into Eden.

Here, you’re likely to spot all of the “Big Five”—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—along with flamingos on the soda lake, hippos in the marshes, and hyenas prowling the open plains.

Because animals rarely migrate out of the crater, sightings are frequent and intimate. There’s something magical about this place—whether it’s the mist lifting at sunrise or the stillness of a lone elephant wandering through the fog.

After lunch we drive toward the legendary Serengeti. Wildlife is abundant along the way. Arrive by late afternoon and check in to your luxury tented camp—set in the heart of the action.

The road to forever ~ With windows wide and eyes full of wonder, you journey north—past villages, valleys, and zebra herds grazing free. As you reach the endless plains of Serengeti, the horizon opens like a story without end.

Day 4 - Endless Safari in the Serengeti

📍Osero Tented Camp

Today is a full day of adventure in central Serengeti. You’ll explore vast savannahs teeming with lions, leopards, zebras, and wildebeest.

The heart of the wild ~ Here in the soul of Serengeti, life pulses all around you—lion prides lounging in the grass, cheetahs scanning the wind, vultures circling above. Every moment is electric, every silence filled with meaning.

Optional: We’ll also be offering a hot air balloon safari—a magical sunrise experience with champagne breakfast on the plains. ($599/person, pre-booking required.)

Day 5 – Sunrise, Wildlife & Golden Light

📍Osero Tented Camp

Begin with an early morning game drive to catch the sunrise and predators on the move. Return for breakfast, then head out again with picnic lunches for a full day of exploration across central and northern Serengeti. After sunset, return to camp for a cozy dinner and fireside storytelling.

Waking with the wild ~ At dawn, the sky blushes and the plains stretch pink and golden beneath it. A lion’s roar echoes over dew-kissed grass. You chase the light, follow the herds, and feel the rhythm of the land in your bones.

In the Central Serengeti, expect dramatic wildlife action: prides of lions resting under acacia trees, cheetahs stalking prey in the open plains, and perhaps a leopard draped over a kopje (rocky outcrop), scanning the horizon.

As we move north, the landscape shifts subtly, with more woodlands and hidden valleys. Giraffes browse in the trees, elephants emerge at dusk, and birdlife fills the skies.

Day 6 – Into Calving Season: South Serengeti / Ndutu

📍Lake Masek Tented Lodge

Today we journey into the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu region—prime territory during calving season when the Great Migration slows, and predators follow. Expect dramatic wildlife moments. Here, thousands of wildebeest give birth almost simultaneously in a heart-stirring spectacle. And where there are babies, predators follow. It’s raw, powerful, and unforgettable. Dinner and overnight at the lakeside Lake Masek Tented Lodge.

New life on the move ~ Wildebeest calves wobble beside their mothers, born minutes ago onto open soil. The Ndutu plains cradle the migration’s newest breath, and you are here for it all—the birth, the chase, the dance of life and predator.

Day 7 – Full Day in Ndutu

📍Lake Masek Tented Lodge

Enjoy a full day game drive in the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains, where cheetahs, lions, and wildebeest calves abound. Return to the lodge for dinner and peaceful overnight stay.

Where silence holds a thousand sounds ~ The air is thick with anticipation, and your senses awaken to every twitch of the grass. Here, each glance is a gift—lions in tall reeds, elephants at water’s edge, the distant thunder of hooves.

Day 8 – Ndutu and Lake Eyasi

We start with an early morning game drive in Ndutu. After lunch, we drive to the quiet shores of Lake Eyasi for sunset and a chance to meet local fishermen.

Day 9 – Hadzabe & Datoga Tribes

📍Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge → Gold Crest Hotel, Arusha

In the morning, spend time with the Hadzabe people—one of Africa’s last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes. Later, meet the Datoga tribe and witness their blacksmithing traditions. After lunch, return to Arusha for dinner and overnight at the Gold Crest Hotel.

Echoes of the ancestors ~ You walk beside the Hadzabe, learning their rhythms, following their footsteps. Later, the sparks of a Datoga forge fly as ancient skills are passed from hand to hand. Today is not just a visit—it is a connection across time.

Lake Eyasi & the Hadzabe & Datoga Tribes

“Beyond the safari: deep human connection.”

This is where your journey shifts from wildlife to culture. Lake Eyasi is a quiet, shimmering lake surrounded by baobabs and ancient rock formations. But it’s the people who make this place unforgettable.

Spend time with the Hadzabe, one of Africa’s last true hunter-gatherer tribes. You'll walk with them through the bush, witness traditional fire-making, and learn how they hunt using handmade bows and poisoned arrows.

Next, meet the Datoga—skilled blacksmiths and cattle herders—who craft tools for the Hadzabe and keep a rich tradition of barter alive.

These aren’t performances. They’re living cultures, shared through conversation, laughter, and stories around the fire.

Day 10 – Visit to Ikirwa School & Local Families

📍Hosted by Gasper Mbise

Today we visit Ikirwa School, where you’ll meet the children, teachers, and see the heart of Gasper’s mission. Enjoy a home-cooked lunch at Gasper’s home, followed by visits to nearby families we’ve connected with on previous journeys. Dinner and overnight with Gasper and his family.

Hearts full ~ Laughter spills from classrooms, chalk dust dances in the sun, and the eyes of children shine with promise. You’ve seen the wild, and now you witness its future—in stories shared, hands held, and hope growing strong in Tanzanian soil.

Ikirwa School Visit & Maasai Culture

“Leave more than footprints.”

On your final full day, you’ll visit Ikirwa School, nestled on the outskirts of Arusha and filled with bright-eyed children eager to learn. It’s not just a school—it’s a symbol of resilience and hope.

You’ll meet teachers, students, and some of the 19 children personally sponsored by Tasha and her friends. You'll also share a meal at Gasper’s home and visit nearby families, where stories are shared over tea, and the warmth of Tanzanian hospitality shines through.

Both of your guides, Gasper and Joseph, are proud members of the Maasai tribes, and throughout your journey, you’ll feel their deep connection to the land, culture, and people of Tanzania. They are not just guides—they are storytellers, protectors, and friends.

Day 11 – Leisure Day & Departure

Enjoy a relaxed final morning, time for packing, journaling, or one last stroll before your private transfer to the airport.

No goodbyes, only “see you again.”

With bags packed and hearts brimming, you leave the bush—but not the memories. They travel with you, stitched into your soul. Africa doesn’t let go. It waits for your return.

A trip to Ikirwa School! Love these kids!

"You may leave Africa, but Africa never leaves you. Somewhere between the roar of a lion and the rustle of acacia leaves, a piece of your heart stays behind—wild, free, and forever changed."

A crazy video from our last Safari! We had a Cheetah on our jeep!! She wanted to get up close and personal, and we didn't mind <3 haha.

How does tipping work in Tanzania?

Tipping is customary and greatly appreciated in Tanzania, especially in the safari and hospitality industries. While it’s always optional and should reflect the level of service you feel you’ve received, here are some general guidelines:

Safari guides/drivers: 8-10% for the solo and for the group at least $20per person per day as a tip.

(They work incredibly hard and are with you throughout the trip—this is where tipping matters most.)

Lodge/camp staff: $5–$10 per day, left in a communal tip box at each property

Porters or one-time helpers: $1–$2 per bag or task

We’ll provide an easy-to-follow tipping guide during the trip, and you’re welcome to ask questions at any time. Tipping in USD is common and appreciated, and small denominations are helpful.
